  THE DANCES - Street Dance

Street Dance is a combination of many techniques derived from street games with movement and rhythm. It comprises elements of hip-hop, funk, electric boogie and break dance. Depending on the style of dance it can be very technical with locking and popping moves incorporated or more simple funky smooth moves.
An example of this style of dance is Wade Robson who has programme on MTV in which unknown dancers have to imitate his set of moves to win the show.

It has been around since the 90’s due to the popularity of African, Jamaican and pop dance routines in videos. Street dance can be seen on video clips and live performances of such pop stars as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Anastasia and famous STOMP group.

The style of music played to street dance varies from hip-hop, African rhythms, Urban Funk, R’n’B and pop.
