  THE DANCES - Bollywood

This style of dance has evolved from the Indian Bollywood movie industry. Forever evolving, mainly due to satellite and MTV, lots of African-American moves are now incorporated into most dance routines (In India, these moves are often referred to as western or modern). It's great fun, it's exciting and combines various styles of dance. This lively form of dance encourages movement of all parts of the body giving it a good workout.

Bollywood dancing is a commercial name for modern Indian dancing and has emerged from the films to stand alone in its own right. It's a combination of classical Indian dance (which is the base), folk dancing such as Bhangra and sometimes a Latino and Arabic influence. The idea is to express the meaning of the music through 'graceful' movements.

Bollywood music derives directly from the influence of the Bollywood film industry and Asian pop music of today. Fusing Bhangra beats with traditional Indian music, Bollywood music can be up tempo or slow and graceful.
