The Pilates method was originally created by Joseph Pilates
(1880-1967) as a means of creating a strong, healthy, balanced mind
and body. Pilates re-educates muscles to allow maximum strength
and flexibility with minimum tension in the body. It emphasises
the development of 'core stability' by strengthening the deep abdominal
and back muscles and improving postural alignment. The aim is for
each person's body - regardless of size or shape - to achieve the
best strength and balance it can for maximum efficiency of movement.
Pilates will improve your muscle control, flexibility,
strength, posture, co-ordination and body awareness. It is suitable
for everybody.
