Learn the basics of Egyptian Tabla with master drummer Farouk El
Safi (drums available to borrow/buy).
Learn the different rhythms for dancers and discover that powerful
connection to the music made by the rhythm produced by the Tabla:
yes - your hands. You will learn each rhythm by name from breaking
the techniques to combinations.
This course is perfect for anyone who wishes to learn Tabla with
the solid-base of the 3 main points: "Brain-Ears-Hands"
and for performers to better understand what they are moving to.

Learn authentic Egyptian dance including Golden Age, Modern classical,
Shaabi, Saiidi, Baladi etc.
RaqsweMazika School covers interpretation of rhythms and the different
styles of the Arabic music. This includes the music capacity, element,
length and proportions, the different styles, movements, directions,
links, transitions, bridges and finishes.
General level (Beginner-plus) to Advanced/Pro level.
RaqsweMazika School Teachers:
Nadine
Arab-born Nadine has been dancing since childhood and has featured
in restaurants, Arab weddings, professional show cases and corporate
events throughout the UK and abroad.
A popular workshop teacher, Nadine has taught at Majma, Fantasia
and is joining Nagwa Fouad and Randa Kamel at Maria D'Silva's Belly
Dance Mania.
A qualified Zumba Instructor, Nadine also teaches a successful Workout4Dancers
course enabling students to develop all-round flexibility. Class
themes will include musical interpretation, rhythms, technique and
cultural awareness.
Farouk El Safi
Farouk has played for some of the greatest stars in Egyptian dance
and has performed professionally in London for many years.
This is a rare opportunity to study with a master musician - don't
miss out! Class themes will include basic technique and introduction
to Egyptian rhythms.
Farouk will be accompanied by percussionist Ali Kirdar and Nadine.
Anne White: Planet Egypt
Founder / Principal Performer, Anne White has studied Raqs Sharqi
for nearly 20 years, and has been a performer and teacher since
1990.
A graduate of the Hilal School, now known as the Raqs Sharqi Society,
Anne teaches weekly classes in London, from complete beginners to
professional performance level.
Ali Kirdar
Arab-born percussionist, trainee of one of the best Egyptian percussionists,
the
master of the Tabla Farouk El Safi, Ali Kirdar works regularly with
Nadine, the Arabic Bellydancer when performing with her band including
Farouk. A percussionist and teacher assistant, Ali is also the co-artistic
manager of RaqsweMazika School of Egyptian Bellydance.
