Diana Laurie recently set up her new classes of 'Being There' at Expressions to a fill a gap in the market! They are assessable ‘drop in’ Acting Workshops with a professional vibe for all those with a desire to Act! Come and check it out!

‘Being There ’ is an on-going Acting Workshop specializing in the technique of ‘Sight-Reading’. The class is acting through sight-reading as opposed to acting through, for example, Improvisation or Method acting.

Diana developed her own technique of this practice using cards with random lines of text.

In a Sight-reading Workshop actors learn to take scripts (or the aforementioned cards) never seen before and play them to a standard as if rehearsed for weeks, making them 'read' as scenes with a life of their own. This produces a hugely creative, funny and moving live experience - fascinating for the actors and also for observers.

The name 'Instant Theatre' was hence born out of these Workshops.

'Instant Theatre' was developed as a result of the amazing work of actors during their regular attendance at the ‘BeingThere’ Workshops is a possible outcome for actors attending the classes.

However ‘Being There’ classes are intended for anyone who wishes to explore their acting ability and develop their skills of working with text in a fun and creative environment! It is a particularly helpful class to prepare actors for castings – but is also good for dancers wishing to connect with more emotional depth, to their work. Moreover it is a hugely liberating, empowering class for anyone wishing to be expressive and creative!

Workshop capacity – There will be a maximum of 14 participants.

(Latecomers admitted if you enter quietly! You may also leave the class early if you inform the teacher on arrival..)

After many years training in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Jive and Rock 'n' Roll, Danielle discovered the intricate beauty, the power and the challenges of Flamenco Dance.

Since 1991, she has trained with top class professional Flamenco dancers and teachers and since 1999 she has run Flamenco Dance Workshops and classes at schools and adult education colleges throughout London.

She is the principal dancer, singer and choreographer of her company 'Flamenco Con Gusto' and offers selected students the chance to perform with her, alongside professional flamenco guitarists.

Danielle has appeared in films, music videos and commercials. She performs live at private functions (weddings, birthdays, garden parties), at summer fairs, fundraising, promotional, corporate and theme events and she is no stranger to the restricted performance spaces of Spanish restaurants!

is a company in which novice dancers and guitarists perform alongside seasoned professionals

2nd Lambazo UK London 2010 Congress

London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the World and it is the only one to offer 5 Lambadazouk nights per week in addition to other rhythms and dances such as Samba, Tango or Salsa.
